At Owner Unknown, we regularly get questions about our games. And that’s no surprise – our escape games are a little different from what you’re used to. They arrive at your home in a suitcase. Intriguing? Definitely. Confusing? Sometimes. That’s why we’ve answered the most frequently asked questions below – from “how many players” to “what if I really get stuck?”

1. What’s the ideal number of players?

We recommend playing with 3 to 6 people. That way, there’s plenty to do and everyone stays engaged. Two players? That works too – it’s more intense but totally doable. Solo? Ambitious, but hey, nothing’s impossible.

2. How do I ask for help if I get stuck?

Is a puzzle too tricky? First, ask your teammate – a fresh pair of eyes can work wonders. Still stuck? No worries. Each game includes a link to the hint page. There you’ll find clever clues that give you just the right nudge. Hints are provided step by step, so you don’t see the solution right away.

3. What’s inside the escape suitcase?

Without giving too much away: a thrilling story, clear instructions, access to the hint system, and of course, a suitcase full of unique puzzle materials. Think letters, surprising props, mysterious clues – every detail is carefully designed. But… the contents remain top secret.

4. What if I don’t solve it in a certain time?

No pressure! Our games aren’t timed. It’s all about the experience – not the stopwatch. So take your time. Grab a coffee. Or a glass of wine. Just saying. Most of our suitcases are completed in about 2 hours.

5. How do I start the game?

It’s as simple – and complex – as this: open the box, take out the suitcase, and begin with the starter envelope. That’s where you’ll find everything you need to kick off your adventure. The rest? You’ll figure it out. Or not. That’s the start of the puzzle.

6. Are the games suitable for children?

Our games are designed for adults, but children aged 12 and up can usually join in – especially if they’re into puzzles. Just be aware: some themes (like The Stalker) are a bit more intense. So check each game description carefully.

7. Can I play the game more than once?

Most games are designed for one-time play – once you’ve solved the mystery, you know the ending. But! You can pass it on to friends or family. Everything stays intact – that’s by design. You’ll just need a refill kit for that specific game.

8. Can I give the game as a gift?

9. How much time does a game take?

On average, you’ll spend between 1.5 and 2.5 hours playing – depending on your team, your skills, and how much wine is on the table. 😉
